Arrival

Arrived in Warsaw today at 11:30 AM... a 12 hour flight and a 9 hour time-shift. Where am I and what day is it?? My itinerary today: Walk, lunch, nap, dinner.

This is the Old Town, Stare Miasto. It is really not that old, as most of Warsaw was destroyed in WW II. You can learn more about the rebuilding of Old Town here.

We had dinner tonight at Oberza pod Czerwonym Wieprzem (Inn Under the Red Hog).

Just look at this beautiful, crispy roast duck with cherry sauce, accompanied by beets, baked apple, and gnocchi. Oh my. What a perfect introduction to Polish cuisine! Dinner was quickly followed by falling asleep on the couch.

Polish word of the day -Pod - under.

Pod seems to figure into a lot of restaurant names: Pod Herbami (coat of arms), Pod Gigantami (giants), Pod Samsomen (Samson).
