Today was a holiday - Labor Day in Poland - and most stores were closed. We decided to go for a little walk...for about 10 miles.
We strolled the Royal Route. Known locally as Trakt Królewski, the Royal Route is the road once traveled by Poland’s kings from the Royal Castle in the old town, to Wilanów Palace. Today this pretty, wide boulevard is home to many trendy stores and restaurants ....plus, literally, musical chairs!
As a tribute to Chopin, along the Royal Route, you will find 15 polished black stone benches. Each bench shows an inlaid map of the area and how it relates to Chopin. But wait...there's more! Each bench lets you enjoy a Chopin musical interlude. Just press the button imbedded in the bench and enjoy a 30-second serenade.
